Religion In America Essay, Research Paper
Religion in the United States is considered a way of life to many people. Whether you go to a church, synagogue, or mosque, they are all a form of religious expression. As a person one is entitled to worship whatever or whomever they believe in and that cannot be taken away from that person by anyone.
Religion is supposed to be belief in one s worshipped being on a daily basis without question from others but now it has been turned into something much more then just worship. It has now become a competition of which religion is right and which is wrong.
This is becoming a very big issue in the United States simply because as a Nation we feel that we cannot interact with other people simply because of their religion. There are a few exceptions of course but as a nation we simply will not interact with people that believe in something different than what we believe in. The reason for this childish behavior is because we become frightened by the mere thought of interacting with someone that has different religious views than you.
This applies to many other things in every day life, such as racial views though religion is very big issue as well. There are people of course that will interact with people that are from a different religion but as a whole nation the chances are slim-to-nil as to us getting together and interacting with other religions aside from business deals and things of that sort.
If there were a poll taken that would measure statistically how many people of Islamic belief communicate on a daily basis with people of Judaic belief on more then just business conversation or just a mere Hello every day while walking by each other there is with out a shadow of a doubt that statistically the results would be very slim. As a Jew this boggles the mind. When thought of, one can ponder about this issue for days and not reach a conclusion as to how this issue can be resolved.
Regardless to how we want to live life the world is not a perfect place where our viewpoints count for much. People need to understand that life should be taken for what it is, and not what it can be. Although this is a sad reality it is still a reality, which should be taken very seriously.
Religion is something beautiful in its own right and we as a people should work with that to better ourselves as people. One can very well bring up the point of easier said then done but it does not have to be that way if we all just work together to better ourselves. If we could set aside our religious differences and learn to leave them aside we would be able to communicate and have relationships with our fellow Americans. We would also be able to realize the true meaning of religion and accept it for what it really is-an expression of your belief\’s and not competition to see who can have the strongest connection with whomever we believe in.
If we could accomplish this, than as a nation we would be religiously unified and would be able to accomplish great things for our now united nation.
