Upon entering Ms. Baillargeon?s fifth grade class, I glanced around the room and unfortunately noticed that is was full of handicapped children. Seeing as each child had a special condition, I began to realize that tutoring these students was going to be a far more difficult service than I had anticipated. I attempted to disregard their conditions and treat them as ?normal? fifth graders. After introducing myself, ?Ms. B? handed me a box and then called on two students that needed tutoring. She took me from a simple student tutor and brought me into her world; a world of smiles, love and warmth.
Reflecting back on my experience filled life, I believe that smiles are my ultimate motivation. The satisfaction of knowing that you have made a difference in a person?s life is summed up in a simple heartwarming smile; winning these smiles is great reward.
Smiles have inspired me to serve my school and community. The ability to lift a person?s spirit and make their day brighter stimulates me to continually serve others. Personally working with the youth and witnessing first-hand the constructive benefits and positive outcomes of the service projects proved to be an extremely enriching experiences.
To pursue this fervent passion to serve and positively change the lives of others, I desire to engage in a career in the medical field. Working with dependant people who trustingly
