Eating Out Vs. Eating at Home
Eating out is more beneficial than a home cooked meal because it is less time
consuming, all you have to do is pick a restaurant. It is also easier to decide what you
would like to eat; however, eating at home is cheaper, a family could make two meals out
of twenty dollars. Eating at home is also healthier than fast food dining because you are
not eating as many fried foods.
One night my family and I decided to eat at Burger King and we already knew
what we were going to order. I chose a Whopper, large french fries, and a soda. The food
was ready in only five minutes. After we were finished, I did not have to worry about
washing dishes, all we had to do was throw away our trash and we were out of the door. It
was that simple.
However, the only thing that was not thanking me was my wallet. Eating out sure
is expensive. I paid $15.72 for three people to eat.
Forget about maintaining a diet, too. The Whopper has 35 grams of fat. I will not
mention the fat content of french fries since they are fried in grease. Perhaps I will start
on that diet again tomorrow.
On the other hand, today was not as easy. I pondered on the idea of what to cook
for hours. I finally decided on baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and french bread. I took
out the chicken to defrost, and four hours later, it was thawed enough to start cooking.
After I had peeled the potatoes another twenty minutes had passed. Finally, one hour
later, dinner was served. It took approximately 8 1/2 hours to decide what to eat and to
cook the food. Now that dinner was finished, I though that I could relax. I was wrong, I
still had to clean the mess I had made in the kitchen.
Now that I am finished cleaning the kitchen, I can sit down, relax, and order that
new dress I was looking at on QVC since I have money left over. Today dinner only cost
me $9.85, and I even have food left over for lunch tomorrow. I can even fit into a smaller
dress size now since baked chicken is one of the foods with the lowest fat content. My
health sure does appreciate me now.
Eating out is easier and less time consuming, but, it can become very expensive
and unhealthy. Although a home cooked meal takes a great amount of time, the long term
benefits far outweigh the short term benefits of fast food dining.
