Sac and Fox Nation plans state?s largest gaming center
Stroud, OK ? The Sac and Fox Nation officials have announced the tribe has selected an Oklahoma company to build and manage the largest Indian tribal gaming center in the state.
The 38,000 sq. ft. gaming facility will be constructed on tribal land located near Westech Road and State Highway 18 in the city of Shawnee. The land is near the intersection of Interstate 40 and State Highway 18.
Premier Assets, Inc. an Oklahoma City based commercial property developer, will manage the Sac and Fox Gaming Center after construction is completed. On Saturday, march 10, 2001, the Sac and Fox Governing Council chose the Premier Assets group over two other competing firms. ?I am extremely proud of our Sac and Fox people for the large turnout at our meeting to decide such an important tribal business matter,? stated Sac and Fox Principal Chief Don W. Abney.
?Our tribal people have chosen an excellent business partner for the economic development of our tribe through gaming operations,? added Abney. ?The tribal members have shown a great interest in pursuing business and economic development projects for the betterment of our people.?
The sixteen acre tract of land will be developed in three phases. ?This gaming facility will offer amenities unequaled in any gaming center currently operating in Oklahoma. The design and d?cor of this $3.5 million facility will be both inviting and exciting to visit,? declared Richard I. Tanenbaum, President of Premier Assets, Incorporated. ?The Center will provide a wide variety of gaming choices; live high-stakes bingo, machine gaming, black jack, and off-track betting on the horse races. Additionally, the gaming center will house a high quality restaurant capable of drawing customers to the facility for a fine meal.?
In the second phase, plans call for the development of a Travel Plaza, convenience store, smokeshop, franchised fast-food restaurant, and possibly a package store. The final phase of the development will include a hotel and convention center/concert hall.
The Sac and Fox Governing Council and Premier Assets representatives will meet again Saturday, April 28, 2001, to finalize the plans for the gaming center project.
