Предлагаемые ниже тестовые задания предназначены для определения уровня подготовки учащихся по учебнику "Happy English 1" (Т.Б. Клементьевой и Б. Монка). С помощью такого вида занятий проверяются знания лексического, грамматического и страноведческого материала.
Проработав тот или иной материал по учебнику, мы предлагаем детям выполнить несколько тестовых заданий для проверки усвоения. Проанализировав итоги, переходим к другому материалу. Тесты как материал контроля также используются и на старшем этапе обучения. На практике часто их используют после изучения определенной темы для проверки степени обученности. В старших классах наряду с изучением нового материала предусмотрено всеобъемлющее повторение изученного ранее грамматического материала.

Учебник серии "Happy English.ru" дает возможность сообщить большой объем страноведческой информации в увлекательной форме. В конце четверти также можно использовать тестирование на уроках иностранного языка для контроля знаний учащихся по определенной теме.

Безусловно, тест пока ещё не может заменить такую, например, форму итогового контроля, как экзамены. Однако его можно с успехом использовать как одну из форм (не единственную!) промежуточного итогового контроля, проводимого, например, по окончании цикла занятий. Такая форма проверки, если она носит регулярный характер, приучает школьников к ответственности за весь материал цикла, что способствует успешности их обучения), поскольку тестом, рассчитанным на 10-15 минут выполнения, можно охватить весь изученный за соответствующее время материал и проверить всех учащихся.
