Bill Gates
1. William Henry Gates was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1955.
2. He is an American business executive, chairman and chief executive officer of Microsoft Corporation. Gates was the founder of Microsoft in 1975 together with Paul Allen, his partner in computer language development. While attending Harvard in 1975, Gates together with Allen developed a version of the BASIC computer programming language for the first personal computer.
3. In the early 1980s, Gates led Microsoft’s evolution from the developer of computer programming languages to a large computer software company. This transition began with the introduction of MS-DOS, the operating system for the new IBM Personal Computer in 1981. Machine - tools
1. Machine – tools are used to shape metals and other materials. The material to shaped is called the workpiece. Most machine – tools are now electrically driven. Machine – tools with electrical drive are faster and more accurate than hand tools: they were an important element in the development of mass – production processes, as they allowed individual parts to be made in large numbers so as to be interchangeable.
2. All machine – tools have facilities for holding both the workpiece and the tool, and for accurately controlling the movement of the cutting tool relative to the workpiece. Most machining operations generate large amounts of heat, and use cooling fluids (usually a mixture of water and oils) for cooling and lubrication.
Machine – tools usually work materials mechanically but other machining methods have been developed lately.

Metalworking processes
1. Metals are important in industry because they can be easily deformed into useful shapes. A lot of metal working processes have been developed for certain applications. They can be divided into five broad groups:

- drawing
- forging
- sheet – metal forming
3.During the first four processes metal is subjected to large amounts of strain (deformation). But if deformation goes at a high temperature, the metal will recrystallize – that is, new strain – free grains will grow instead of deformed grains. For this reason metals are usually rolled, extruded, drawn or forged above their recrystallization temperature. This is called hot working. Under these conditions there is no limit to the compressive plastic strain to which the metal can be subjected.
4. Other processes are performed below the recrystallization temperature. These are called cold working. Cold working hardens metal and makes the part stronger. However, there is a limit to the strain before a cold part cracks/
