Dissertation is dedicated to heritage of historical studies on Crimea of historians and publicists in Germany, USA, Romania and Turkey, which were published in periodicals of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora. The chronological frame for the published works is defined in between 1888 (the very first issue of Turkic-speaking edition of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora) and 1991 (collapse of USSR, the establishment of independent Ukraine). Studies on the sources, historiography of the problem, and description of major stages and aspects of development of publishing by the Crimean Tatars in exile have been provided in the three chapters of the dissertation research. Publications of periodicals of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora concerning Crimea have been systematized and analyzed. The major topics and tendencies in history and ethnography interpretation were discovered.
The dissertation is a first comprehensive research on history of establishment and development of publishing by the Diaspora in 1888-1991. Basing on archive materials, biographical features of publishers, authors of the publications, enlighteners of the Crimean Tatar people in exile were renewed. Prosopographic portrait of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora activists and authors of the periodicals is reconstituted.
