Ghandi Essay, Research Paper
After preparing for a long day of movie watching I reluctantly put the first tape in to the VCR. I was armed with a bottle of water, a vegetarian sandwich, and a pillow. I figured these supplies would get me through the first half. When it was all said and done I realized that the movie was exceptional. Besides being a little on the long side the move, “Ghandi” was in depth, enjoyable and realistic. Even though I complained I found that this movie was very good. I would recommend it to anyone.
I have seen movies that are short and don’t seem to explain anything. This movie is nothing like that! For being over three hours long this movie better have gone into detail about Ghandi. After watching it I feel like I know a lot more about him even though I have read about his life. I really liked how the movie depicted all of the important parts of history, such as, protests, government meetings, and the fasting. I also enjoyed how the movie actually told you when and where the movie was set. This gave me an idea of the politics at certain times, and in certain places. An in depth will always keep me staring at the screen. The way that this movie showed Ghandi in his early years made my viewing possible.
I enjoyed the movie, “Ghandi,” because I could relate the movie to lings that have happened to me in my live. I really related to all of the police brutality that occurred throughout the movie because recently many of my friends fell victim to police brutality during protests at the democratic national convention in Los Angeles. I can also relate to some of the discrimination that Ghandi experienced because I have been discriminated not for the color of my skin, but the color of my hair and the people I choose to associate with. Another thing that I can relate to in this movie is how Ghandi and his followers make their own clothes. I enjoy making some of my own clothes, unlike Ghandi I do not spin my own cloth. Being able to relate to this movie made it a more enjoyable experience.
Finally, the most important thing about the movie is that it was realistic. The fact that everything in the movie was believable made it a good movie. When the soldiers shot the innocent protesters I found it realistic because of the guns they used and they way that they were lined up. I also noticed that the garments the people were wearing looked authentic. The most important detail I noticed that seemed realistic was the setting. You just can’t tell that this was a movie. Little things like these really make it seem that the movie was actually happening right in front of your eyes.
As I reflect on this magnificent motion picture, “Ghandi,” I realize that it was in depth, enjoyable, and realistic. This movie really showed Ghandi at every moment in his life. I also found that I could relate to parts of Ghandi’s life. As I conclude, I would like to mention that I truly admire Ghandi’s pacifist way of life.
